Music

"Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ."  Ephesians 5:19, NIV

Music is a vital element in the worship of God. Music serves as the means for worshippers to turn their hearts to God.  It is one way that we tell God that we adore Him.  Music can also prepare our hearts for our encounter with God and his word.

Did you know that the phrase "sing to the Lord" occurs more than 300 times in the Bible?  In fact, the Bible has over 800 references to music and its use.  The music ministry here at Brookwood uses a variety of forms when it comes to music in the church, from hymns to praise works to anthems, all of which are used to turn the heart of the worshipping congregation in the direction of God’s presence.

There are several opportunities for you and your family to be a part of this vital ministry of the church:

Adult Choir

The adult choir leads our congregation in worship every Sunday morning.  They also perform cantatas at Christmas and Easter.  Some of our members provide special music during worship services.  Interested in joining?  We practice on Wednesday night from 8:00-9:00pm in the sanctuary.  Cantata practices are held on Sunday afternoons during the months prior to Easter and Christmas.

Children's Choir

Many of our future church musicians will start off here.  Children ages 4-12 can join us on Sundays at 4:00pm to learn songs that praise God.  The children perform several times each year during the Sunday morning service.

Gospel Concerts

As often as possible we bring in local groups as well as nationally recognized talent to minister to our congregation and to our community through music.  Please check our calendar for more information.
